Dedicated to helping each student discover their unique musical voice through expert piano instruction
Piano Instructor & Founder
Hi! I'm Sheila, and I've been teaching piano to children for over 30 years, 20 of them here in Moab. I learned piano as a child using the Suzuki method, and have done 4 levels of training in Suzuki Piano. I love the Suzuki method's emphasis on musical learning as a language that centers around listening and natural musicality. I also recognize the importance of traditional music literacy. My approach combines the best of Suzuki method ear training with traditional sight reading and theory, ensuring students develop into well-rounded musicians who can both play by ear and read music fluently. I also recognize the importance of adjusting lessons to each students' strengths and interests, and 30 years of experience has given me lots of opportunities to perfect this.
When I'm not teaching, you'll find me playing guitar or piano, hiking and arch hunting with my family, or probably singing silly songs to my own little one at home. I believe every child has the potential to become a confident, expressive musician, and I'm passionate about helping each student discover their unique voice at the piano.
